Aeneas leaving the burning city / The fire in Borgo. Scene inspired by literature, the flight from the burning Troy with the protagonists, Aeneas carrying Anchise accompanied by his son and wife. They are heading towards the river. It may also represent the fire in Borgo, also painted by Raphael in the Stanze della Segnatura. There, the painter also used the topos of Aeneas to represent the fire that destroyed the houses before St. Peter in 847.
